The Roman Forum at Butrint: Excavations Dig Site 360 Tour

A birds-eye view of the ancient city of Butrint.

This project enabled an international team of archaelogists and classicists led by David Hernandez of the University of Notre Dame and co-director Dhimitër Ҫondi of the Albanian Institute of Archaeology to take 360 photography from the Butrint dig site, an ancient Roman forum situated in present-day Albania. Panoramas were stitched together into an immersive experience of the ongoing excavations. It provided student VR developers with a valuable minimal project to begin developing their skills in 360 photo and Unity.
