Hafencity: Carbon Neutral Urban Design

The primary goal of this project is to create an engaging and interactive learning experience that will help students to develop a deep understanding of the principles of sustainable living and the importance of reducing carbon emissions. By providing students with a virtual environment that simulates a carbon-neutral city, the hope is to create a context in which they can explore and experiment with different sustainable technologies and practices.

The course also aims to develop environmental literacy in students. By exploring the virtual environment, students will learn about the importance of reducing carbon emissions, the benefits of renewable energy sources, and the impact of sustainable living on the environment. This will help to develop a sense of environmental responsibility and encourage students to take action to promote sustainability in their own lives. If the results shows the experimental VR case (Germany) case is more effective than control (China) case, additional exploration will take place to bring the entire class into the VR environment.
